German players "muzzle their mouths" at the Qatar World Cup.. What's the story?

German players gagged their mouths during the official photo ahead of the start of their match against Japan at the opening of Group E competitions at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The German players made the move in protest against the refusal of FIFA to allow them to wear badges in support of LGBT people.

The German Football Federation commented on its players' action prior to the start of their match against Japan: "This is not a political position, human rights are not negotiable, this must be taken for granted, but this is not the case. That is why this message is so important to us ".

In a statement posted on his Twitter account, the Federation added: "Our denial of the badge corresponds to the prohibition of our right to expression."

The leaders of seven European teams (England, Wales, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland) intended to wear these badges as part of a campaign to reject discrimination during the tournament in Qatar, but the move was aborted after FIFA waved disciplinary sanctions.

FIFA previously threatened to grant an alarm to any player wearing the multicolored badge that was presented as supporting diversity and inclusion.

The German team received a brutal and sudden defeat against their Japanese counterparts by two goals on Wednesday.
